Kudos: Arkansas Businesses Receive Recognition

• St. Bernards Healthcare received four Diamond Awards for excellence in marketing and public relations from the Arkansas Hospital Association. Three of the awards were in the advertising category and included a Doctors’ Day print ad, a Jonesboro Economical Transit System bus wrap and a surgical campaign advertising heart care, da Vinci surgery, neurosurgery and Total Joint Advantage. The fourth award was in the foundation category for a video produced by Kenny Jackson for HMG to encourage participation in the Doc Rock & Run benefiting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

• Fennell Purifoy Architects of Little Rock won the Member Choice Award for the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at Birdeye (Cross County) at the Arkansas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects 2012 Design Awards. Receiving Honor Awards were the Fay Jones School of Architecture Design Build program at the University of Arkansas for the Cantilever House in Little Rock; Maurice Jennings & Walter Jennings Architects PLLC of Fayetteville for the Chapel at Rio Roca Ranch in Palo Pinto County, Texas; and Marlon Blackwell Architect of Fayetteville for the Crystal Bridges Museum of Art Museum Store in Bentonville. Modus Studio of Fayetteville won a Merit Award for Eco Modern Flats in Fayetteville.

• Arkansas Surgical Hospital in North Little Rock has been named one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals for joint replacement and spine surgery for the second year in a row, according to HealthGrades. The hospital also ranked No. 1 in Arkansas for joint replacement for the fifth consecutive year and in spine surgery for the fourth successive year by HealthGrades. “We are proud of our physicians and staff. Their skill and ability to focus on exceptional patient care have helped us earn this national recognition,” said Carrie Helm, CEO of Arkansas Surgical Hospital. “At a time when there is much uncertainty about health care, it is wonderful to demonstrate what’s working right in health care.”

• Bell & Co. of North Little Rock received the 2011 Public Service Award for Firms at the American Institute of CPAs fall meeting for its work raising funds and sending employees to aid in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Additionally, Bell & Co. was recognized for its support of the Arkansas State Mental Hospital, Hearts & Hooves, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and the Salvation Army.

• Hosto & Buchan PLLC of Little Rock has been presented with the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys’ 2012 Community Service Award. The firm was chosen for its contributions of time, money, used office equipment and services to nonprofit organizations including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Our House and others

• The University of Arkansas recently received the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce Albert M. Byrnes Developer of the Year Award at the chamber’s annual Construction and Developers 2012 Appreciation Awards Banquet. “The university is definitely a catalyst. That’s why it’s being honored as the economic Developer of the Year,” said Steve Clark, president and CEO of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. “The university makes things happen. There’s no question it impacts the area in so many ways. And as it continues to expand, the university’s impact will only grow in the future.”
