◊ Ridout Lumber of Searcy has cracked into the top 100 sellers of flooring materials, according to the national trade journal Floor Focus. Ridout was ranked No. 100 with 2012 flooring sales (including installation) of $14 million, up from $12 million last year. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville ranked No. 4 with flooring sales of $2.65 billion in fiscal 2012, down from $2.72 billion in 2011.
◊ Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation took 25 awards at the Bronze Quill Awards, sponsored by the Arkansas chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. Heifer Foundation received 15 awards, and 11 awards went to the Arkansas Department of Health’s Stamp Out Smoking campaign developed by Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods of Little Rock. CJRW was given seven more awards for its other work, and The Communications Group of Little Rock received 10.
◊ The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has received Level II Patient-Centered Medical Home accreditation at seven of its family medical centers in El Dorado, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Pine Bluff, Springdale and Texarkana from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. “This accreditation is the result of more than three years of hard work to better coordinate patient care and improve access to care,” said Dr. Mark Mengel, vice chancellor for regional programs and director of the Area Health Education Centers program at UAMS.
◊ The Fay Jones School of Architecture at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville tied for the No. 1 spot in two categories in a national survey by the Design Futures Council of top brands in architectural education. The school tied for the ranking in the Top for Regional Respect & Admiration and Best Small School Design Program categories.
