Kudos: Fort Smith Named as a Tree City by Arbor Day Foundation

Fort Smith has been named a 2012 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management. The city, which has earned this designation for seven consecutive years, also received a Tree City Growth award for demonstrating environmental improvement and a higher level of tree care.

Paramount Metal Systems Inc. has been added to Varco Pruden Buildings’ Hall of Fame for construction of Hill Farm Elementary School in Bryant. The awards are presented annually to Varco Pruden builders whose work reflects outstanding integration of building systems, products, architectural appearance, end use and design. The $17 million facility was designed by Jackson Brown Palculict Architects and contracted by Clark Contractors, both of Little Rock.

CARTI has been presented with a Josetta Wilkins Award at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. The organization, which has 10 locations across the state, has been a leader in fighting breast cancer for more than 35 years and offers treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, diagnostic radiology and surgical oncology. CARTI also received the Arkansas Quality Award in Quality Achievement in 1996 and 1997 as well as the Governor’s Quality Award in 1998. n
