The convenience store chain Kum & Go of Des Moines, Iowa, didn’t waste much time jumping on a probable future store location in west Fayetteville.
The chain paid $775,000 for a 2.2-acre tract at the northeast corner of Mount Comfort and Rupple roads.
The location had just been rezoned to allow a convenience store to be built in a 6-2 vote by the Fayetteville City Council on Jan. 19.
Kum & Go has tried in recent years to find a location to build a store in west Fayetteville in face of zoning requirements and community opposition.
Kum & Go bought the property through its KG Store 2424 LLC, so Whispers has a good idea what number the future store will be.
The sellers were Tony and Sharrol Hardin of Elkins, whose family has owned the property for more than a half-century.
