LaCroix Precision Optics Announces $13.8M Batesville Expansion

1 min read

LaCroix Precision Optics of Batesville, a producer of optical components and assemblies, announced an expansion of its Batesville manufacturing operations on Thursday.

In a press release, the company said it will invest $13.8 million in the expansion, which will create 107 jobs over the next five years. Construction on the expansion has already begun, and operations are planned to start in December.

The expansion is intended to support a 10-year military contract as well as increased customer demand for its products, which include spherical lenses, achromats, aspheres, windows, prisms and beam splitters. The company plans to add new equipment and 18,750 SF of manufacturing space.

Since its founding in 1947, LaCroix Precision Optics has undergone four expansions, the most recent in 2024. That expansion added new optical assembly capabilities to vertically integrate the company’s business model.

Originally based in Chicago, the company relocated to Batesville in 1976, where it had established a branch location 10 years prior.

In addition to the defense sector, LaCroix Precision Optics makes products for the medical, science and industrial sectors.
