Landlord Wants Gusano’s Pizzeria OutLock Icon

Update, Oct. 22, 2018: Gusano’s has paid its rent, according to the landlord’s attorney.

Original story:

The landlord of Gusano’s Chicago Style Pizzeria says it needs some dough, and we’re not talking of the pizza variety.

Three Thirteen Clinton LLC, which says it owns the first floor and basement of the 313 Clinton Building at 313 President Clinton Ave., has sued the Little Rock restaurant, owned by Tim Chappell, alleging it owes Three Thirteen $57,583 in back rent and other charges. That sum comprises unpaid rent from June 1, 2017, through May 31, 2018, the suit says.

“The Plaintiff has met with the Defendant multiple times in an attempt to cure the Defendant’s failure to pay rent,” says the suit, filed last month in Pulaski County Circuit Court.

The suit says Three Thirteen — whose agent, according to the secretary of state’s office, is Jimmy Moses — told Chappell on Aug. 30 to vacate the premises within five business days.

Three Thirteen, represented by the Jackson Law Firm of North Little Rock, wants immediate possession of the Gusano’s location and a lien placed on all fixtures and equipment on the premises.

On Oct. 2, a writ of possession was issued to the Pulaski County sheriff directing him to evict Gusano’s. But last time your Whispers staff checked, the restaurant was still up and running.

As of our Thursday deadline, Chappell hadn’t returned a phone call seeking comment.
