Leslie Mann Joins Conway Regional Health System (Movers & Shakers)

Leslie Mann has joined Conway Regional Health System as a physician liaison, in which role she will focus on network development as part of the medical staff administration department. Mann has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Central Arkansas at Conway and is working toward an MBA there.


Melody Phipps has been named director of nursing at Presbyterian Village in Little Rock, and Stacey Hammons has been named chaplain.

Phipps has extensive experience in long-term care, geriatric psychology and gastroenterology.

Hammons is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas and Bethel Seminary and spent a year as chaplain resident at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and provided grief counseling and bereavement support while affiliated with Gentiva Hospice.


Dr. Bryan Armstrong of Bryant Eye Care Clinic was elected president of the Arkansas Optometric Association during its spring convention.

The following were also elected officers:

  • Dr. Matthew Jones of Blytheville, president-elect
  • Dr. Belinda Starkey of Rogers, vice president
  • Dr. Daniel Hennessey of Little Rock, secretary/treasurer.

Dr. Chevron Ergle of Jacksonville is the organization’s immediate past president. Dr. Joe Sugg of Heber Springs and Dr. Gavin McDowell of Newport were re-elected to the board of directors, and Dr. James Hertzog was elected to a first term on the board.

Other board members are Drs. Allyson Mertins of Fayetteville and Jeff Netzel and Melia Robertson of Russellville. Robertson was also named Young Optometrist of the Year. Dr. Howard Flippin of Searcy received the organization’s Lifetime of Excellence Award, and Dr. Susan DeBlack of Conway was named Optometrist of the Year.

Special Service Awards were presented to Dr. Alex Bell of Rogers, Dr. Eric Robbins of Conway, Dr. Airiell Schwab of Searcy and Sharon Carter of Waldo (Columbia County).
