Patrick Schueck is president of Lexicon Inc. For some companies, automating jobs helps companies either keep their operations here or reshore them. Many Arkansas manufacturers are having difficulty filling jobs because of the lack of qualified workers.
Lexicon Fabricators and Constructors of Little Rock announced Tuesday that it has acquired Steel Fabricators of Monroe, Louisiana.
Steel Fabricators’ 130 employees will join Lexicon’s fabricator divisions: Prospect Steel and Custom Metals.
Leaders at both companies welcomed the deal.
“For more than 50 years, we’ve ‘Defined Excellence’ by investing in our most valuable assets — our people,” Lexicon President and CEO Patrick Schueck said in a news release. “We look forward to welcoming Steel Fabricators of Monroe to the Lexicon family, where we will lead the industry with the highest-quality services and the latest technologies.”
“Prospect Steel has been proud to help design and fabricate some of our country’s most iconic buildings and structures,” added Steve Grandfield, president of Lexicon’s fabrication divisions. “Bringing the Steel Fabricators of Monroe team on board will allow us to further boost our structural fabrication capacity, so we can continue building America.”
Established in 1973 by Don Beach and John Hunter, Steel Fabricators operates on a 20-acre site at 2101 Booth St. in Monroe. The campus includes more than 160,000 SF of fabrication space and warehouse, training and maintenance facilities. The company uses fully automated CNC equipment, electronic tablets, bar coding technology and the latest fabrication software, according to the release.
