Little Rock Port Set for $10M in Wastewater Infrastructure Upgrades

1 min read

Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority CEO Jean Block announced that the utility will receive $10 million in federal funding to strengthen wastewater infrastructure at the Little Rock Port.

The funds were included in a fiscal year 2026 appropriations package passed by the U.S. Senate last week.

The funds will support the construction of a new pump station force main, upgrades to the existing port pump station, and installation of a new interconnect between LRWRA facilities at Fourche Creek and Clinton National Airport, according to a news release from the Little Rock Regional Chamber. Those improvements are expected to increase flexibility in the collection system and raise capacity by as much as 3 million gallons a day.

“This funding will enable LRWRA to expand sewer system capacity, support the development of the Megasite at the Port, and ensure LRWRA can reliably meet future wastewater demands in and around the Port,” Block said in the release.

U.S. Sen. John Boozman said in a statement, “I was proud to champion this project and will continue advocating efficient and productive use of taxpayer dollars for projects that create economic opportunity and benefit Arkansans.”
