Conway real estate company Covington Properties purchased and plans to begin renovating in February the building that houses the offices of the daily newspaper the Log Cabin Democrat.
Covington Properties bought the 20,000-SF facility, which sits on 1.5 acres in Conway’s downtown, for $665,000 in December.
George Covington Sr., general partner in Covington Properties, said his company bought the building from Log Cabin owner Morris Communications Co. of Augusta, Ga.
As part of the agreement with Morris, Covington Properties is letting the Log Cabin lease the entire building and gave the newspaper the option to remain as a tenant. The facility is spacious enough for multiple tenants, Covington said.
Rick Fahr, publisher of the Log Cabin, said he could not disclose the newspaper’s plans yet.
