Based in the Quapaw Tower at 700 E. Ninth St. in Little Rock, Capital Car Service began offering private car service on May 1.
Capital Car transports its customers in sedans, an important part of its business plan. Owner David Fort, an entrepreneur with experience in various fields, including business consulting and golf, started the business because he saw an opportunity between the taxi and limousine services in the city. “With as many limo providers as there are, there was something in that middle market,” Fort said. He funded the venture with private and personal investment.
Capital Car does much of its business transporting customers between the airport and hotels or private residences, though Fort also described business from weddings and from Little Rock residents who simply want to go out to dinner without worrying about whether to order another bottle of wine.
Fort currently employs two drivers and often gets behind the wheel himself. While noting that “I like to play it lean,” he does see the potential for growth in the next five years, including an expanded garage and 10 to 12 drivers. “I like what I’m seeing in this market,” he said, “and 10 to 12 [drivers] may be a conservative estimate.”
A business website is currently in the works, though interested customers can create a reservation account for themselves on the company’s website, CapitalCarService.com. Capital Car runs seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
