2 min read

The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Ryan Callison as its vice president of marketing and communications.

Callison has spent 17 years at travel-focused agencies in Arizona, Texas and Arkansas. Previously, he was vice president of destination development for Waymack & Crew, the Little Rock content creation agency.

In a news release, the bureau said it will rely on Callison in its destination marketing. That will include work on its master plan initiatives to grow the city’s business and leisure tourism.

Callison said in a statement that he’s proud to promote a city “with so much to offer” visitors. “Helping people find joy and unique experiences through traveling is a lifelong passion for me,” he said. “I look forward to helping share Little Rock’s vibrant culture and community by connecting Arkansans and visitors from around the country with this thriving capital city.”

Callison has a degree in organizational communication from Lubbock Christian University. He was vice president of destination strategy for Madden Media in Tucson, Arizona, and director of marketing and communications for Visit Frisco in Texas.

He has served on several state tourism promotion boards, and won recognition from the Texas Travel Alliance. In 2017, that group named him a rising star in Texas tourism.

LRCVB President and CEO Gina Gemberling described Callison as a standout in destination and travel marketing.

“Both the city and the LRCVB are lucky to have him,” Gemberling said in the release. “With the help of his expertise and skill set, we’ll continue to build Little Rock’s status as a top-tier travel destination.”
