A new Lumber One Home Center retail store is planned for the recently sold iHeart Media Metroplex at 10800 Col. Glenn Road in Little Rock.
Timmons Property Management LLC bought the 107,000-SF building and 10.5-acre property for $4.6 million. The firm was then acquired by Morton Land Holdings LLC, a company is led by John Morton, owner of Lumber One.
Morton said the new store will not replace any of the company’s current stores, which are located in Mayflower and Stuttgart. Renovations are planned, but he said he didn’t know yet how much those will cost.
Lumber One has hired Roark Perkins Perry Yelvington Architects of Little Rock for the project.
Plans call for 110,00-120,000 SF of retail space, including a drive-in, indoor lumber yard. The store will hire between 60 and 75 people, he said.
Morton also said the company hadn’t determined yet when its new Little Rock store will open. Lumber One is in discussions with the tenant, iHeartRadio, about when it will leave the building. iHeartRadio was formerly known as Clear Channel.
Lumber One is also planning to close on the purchase of 10.5 acres and a 130,000-SF building at 11610 Vimy Ridge Road in Alexander within a few weeks.
Lumber One plans to open a distribution center and millwork facility on the property to support Lumber One retail stores, Morton said. He expects about 75 people to work there.
He also said the company is working on plans to open more stores.
