1 min read

First Electric Cooperative of Jacksonville on Wednesday said Mark Snowden has been named president and CEO, overseeing the co-op’s 240 employees and more than 100,000 member accounts.

Snowden comes to Arkansas after a 24-year career at Cimarron Electric Cooperative in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, including 14 years as CEO. After that, he joined National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) in Dulles, Virginia, as senior vice president of its Strategic Services Group.

Snowden replaces longtime co-op leader Don Crabbe, who retired after working as CEO since 2005.

“Being a part of the electric cooperative network for the past 25 years, I have always been impressed with and respected the work that the First Electric board and employees do,” Snowden said in a news release. “The quality of talent is incredible here. First Electric has grown to be one of the largest and highest performing cooperatives in the industry, and that has me so excited to be joining them.”

First Electric serves portions of 18 counties in central and southeastern Arkansas with offices in Bryant, Heber Springs, Jacksonville, Perryville and Stuttgart. Snowden lives in Cabot.

His other experience includes leadership roles as director for CFC, trustee for the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives (OAEC), past president of the OAEC Managers Association, alternate director for the Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) board of trustees and past president of the WFEC Managers Association.

Snowden graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in finance.
