Last fall, the Little Rock Board of Directors approved construction of a retro-style McDonald’s at the former Bennigan’s location on the corner of Markham and University.
Half a year later, there’s no sign of progress — and it looks like progress is still months away.
Eliecer Palacios, who owns and operates two McDonald’s restaurants in town and is in charge of developing the site, said the project was working through some snags.
“There’s still some issues that need to be worked out with the local residents with regards to widening streets,” Palacios said. The construction will affect property lines and easements, he said. Palacios said he hopes McDonald’s can break ground by May.
Orion Capital Partners of Little Rock represents the property. Palacios declined to discuss the terms of the lease.
Palacios said only two other McDonald’s sport the retro styling in the country, and the company plans to have about six.
