Media Gateway Partner Suffers StrokeLock Icon

Somber news comes from Media Gateway, the Little Rock broadcast and master control service outsourcer for TV stations around the country: Jeff Lyle, the media company’s managing partner, has been sidelined by a stroke.

New York investor Matthew Davidge, who bought out the ownership of SSN Media Gateway LLC in 2016 after the implosion of the Soul of the South Network, is for now handling day-to-day operations at Media Gateway’s 35,000-SF headquarters at 1 Shackleford Drive.

“Yes, Jeff Lyle has had a stroke and is in the process of recovery,” the British-born Davidge said last week in response to an email from Whispers. “Service delivery [at the media complex] has been unaffected. I have stepped in to lead.”

No further information on Lyle’s condition was readily available.

Lyle, who is 56, described Media Gateway’s business model in a 2017 interview with Arkansas Business: “We take signals off satellites, line up the programming with local commercials, programs and newscasts, and ship it right to the stations’ broadcast transmitters, cable outlets and Dish and DirecTV, all by IP. We also have the people and equipment to let stations outsource their newscasts.”
