Mercy Clinic announced Tuesday that it started construction on a $4.4 million clinic in Fort Smith.
The nearly 13,000-SF clinic will have 26 exam rooms, a lab and X-ray equipment, according to a Mercy news release.
The clinic also will be wired for Mercy’s electronic health record, the news release said. Several suites also will have cameras and diagnostic tools for telemedicine consults if it’s necessary.
"Since we’re starting from scratch on this building, we’ve listened to our patients and physicians and designed a 21st century clinic that will help us reach our goal of making each doctor’s visit as easy as possible for the patient," Dr. Cole Goodman, Mercy Clinic president, said in the news release. "This building will actually be a prototype for all new Mercy facilities across the region."
The new building is expected to be complete in the fall and is part of Mercy’s plan to spend $192 million on capital projects and improvements over the next decade.
Mercy Clinic is part of the St. Edward Mercy Health System of Fort Smith.
