Mid-America Science Museum Gets Ross Foundation Grant

1 min read

Two schools in Clark County are the beneficiaries of a grant from the Ross Foundation in Arkadelphia to the Mid-America Science Museum.

The $8,391 grant from the foundation will go toward teachers at Peake Elementary School and Gurdon Elementary School.

Fourth grade students at each school will take part in Science Matters, a series of hands-on lessons in science, technology, engineering and math designed to develop students’ abilities to critically think and problem solve.

The lessons help students learn chemical and physical changes, states of matter, how mass affects momentum, the effects of temperature changes and how to work with circuits, insulators and conductors.

The program is focused on improving teaching and learning strategies and providing professional development for elementary science teachers.
