Southern Bancorp Inc. of Little Rock has named Mike Myers as interim CFO.
Myers recently retired from Winrock International after serving as CFO since 1997. He has been as a member of the Southern Bancorp holding company board since 2015.
Darrin Williams, CEO of Southern Bancorp, called Myers a “proven leader with a deep understanding of Southern Bancorp’s mission.”
“I can think of no better person to lead our financial team as we conduct a national search for our next CFO,” Williams said in a statement.
Myers assumes the role after the departure of Chris Wewers, who accepted a position as CFO at Citizens Bank of Batesville.
Myers, a certified public accountant, holds a master’s in business administration from the University of Arkansas and a bachelor’s in accounting from Henderson State University, where he also served as chair of the board of trustees. In 2009, he was named Arkansas Business’ Nonprofit CFO of the Year.
“It’s an honor to help lead Southern Bancorp during this transition,” Myers said. “Having served as a board director for many years, I’m deeply committed to its mission and excited about its growth trajectory. I look forward to helping support a smooth transition to our next CFO.”
