Montrose Environmental Acquires Huco Consulting

2 min read

Montrose Environmental Group Inc. of North Little Rock said Monday that it acquired Huco Consulting Inc. of Houston, a privately held environment consulting firm.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The companies said Huco’s leadership team, including co-founders Ron Huijsman and Sameer Vyas, will join Montrose’s Advisory and Specialty Services business, led by Senior Vice President Mark Hall.

Founded in 2008, Huco specializes in implementing environment, health and safety (EHS) and environmental, social and governance (ESG) systems and software for industrial, commercial and government clients.

“As environmental reporting needs increase for companies, the demand for systematic compliance and data aggregation is growing fast,” Hall said in a news release.

“With the addition of the experienced Huco team, we enhance our data offerings, expanding support for the compliance and ESG/Sustainability needs of our clients as we continue to pioneer real-time environmental monitoring and consolidated reporting.”

Huco’s founders said in a statement that the deal will allow the company to reach more clients “and do so with an organization that is fully committed to supporting our development, people and client solutions.”

Publicly traded Montrose (NYSE: MEG) is an environmental services companies with more than 2,500 employees across 75 locations around the world. The company, which moved its headquarters to Arkansas last year after acquiring CTEH of North Little Rock, aims to help its business clients understand, measure and manage their environmental footprint or risk.

Last month, Montrose reported a third-quarter loss as demand softened for pandemic-related services. The company said a quarterly revenue decline was partially offset by stronger demand in its water treatment, renewable energy and greenhouse gas measurement businesses, along with growth in its measurement and analysis and remediation and reuse segments.

The Huco acquisition is the company’s second this year. In September, Montrose acquired AirKinetics Inc. of Anaheim, California, an emissions testing services provider. The companies said AirKinetics’ leadership team, including founder and president Tony Wong, would join Montrose’s measurement and analysis segment.
