Montrose Environmental Group Inc. (NYSE: MEG) of North Little Rock announced it has hired Doug Matthys to oversee the ongoing expansion of the company’s environment consulting services segment.
Matthys was named president of the consulting and engineering segment, a new position. He joins Montrose after 15 years in a variety of positions at RPS Group PLC, a global professional services firm headquartered in England. Matthys, who was based in Austin, Texas, was most recently president of global energy at RPS. Before then, he was CEO of RPS North America, overseeing its environmental Risk, infrastructure, and ocean science divisions.
In his new role, Matthys will be responsible for overseeing the integration and sourcing of talent and expertise across the organization, Montrose said in a news release.
“We’ve grown the segment significantly in recent years, and Doug will be instrumental in integrating regional and national practices and capabilities, as well as leveraging Montrose’s core businesses to best serve the needs of our clients. We welcome Doug to the team,” Josh LeMaire, chief operating officer at Montrose, said in the release.
He holds a bachelor’s in political/environmental science from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
Publicly traded Montrose has grown its consulting business through acquisitions in recent years. CEO Vijay Manthripragada has said more acquisitions are in the works.
Montrose’s losses widened to $31.8 million in 2022, compared to a loss of $25.3 million the previous year. Revenue held steady at $544.4 million.
