Mosaic Church’s University Market at 4Corners in Little Rock will get upgrades in May, pending approval from the city’s Board of Directors.
If the board approves the church’s re-zoning request May 1, Mosaic will add tables, chairs, umbrellas and electricity to the food truck court area that opened Feb. 1 on the vacant Kmart property at 6221 Colonel Glenn Road.
The electricity would allow the trucks to operate without generators, Mosaic spokeswoman Jennifer Harrison said.
Currently, three to seven food trucks park at the court 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some trucks also sell food at the spot on weekends. Taqueria Samantha keeps evening hours on weekdays.
Live music and more trucks are among Mosaic’s goals for the court, Harrison said.
Mosaic updates the University Market’s Facebook page with truck availability.
The church plans to add banners and signs to promote the food truck court and, after it finalizes its purchase of the 10-acre former Kmart property later this year, will improve the parking lot with landscaping, Pastor Mark DeYmaz said.
“We’re off to a fantastic start, especially in light of the fact that it’s just food trucks on concrete,” DeYmaz said. “We think it’s a fraction of how wonderful it can be.”
