Former Fulk-Arkansas Democrat Building • 615 Main Street, Little Rock
Moses Tucker Real Estate Inc. of Little Rock said Friday that has purchased the former Fulk-Arkansas Democrat Building at 615 Main Street, with plans to rehabilitate it and add eight loft apartments and retail space that will include Raimondo Winery.
Renovations are planned to start in May and will cost about $2 million, the company said in a news release. The project is scheduled for completion by the middle of next year.
The two-story, 13,146-SF building was built in 1916 and housed the the Arkansas Democrat newspaper until 1930. It was designed by architect Charles Louis Thompson, who also designed the Washington County courthouse in Fayetteville, Little Rock City Hall and the Peter Hotze house in Little Rock.
Raimondo Winery, owned and operated by Margie Raimondo, will open on the ground floor. It will feature a wine tasting room and will offer select culinary events. The winery will also sell homemade extra olive virgin oils and premium balsamic vinegars.
Raimondo, whose family has made wines in Italy and California, most recently operated the Raimondo Family Winery in Gamaliel (Baxter County). The winery specializes in Italian and Iberian wines.
“We are excited to bring our quality wines to central Arkansas, as well as something new and different to the downtown Little Rock market,” Raimondo said. “The urban development of the Main Street corridor and landscape will give our winery a European feel.”
Moses Tucker Real Estate is the project developer; Cromwell Architect is the architect. Central Construction Group is the general contractor, with financing by Arvest Bank.
