Agriculture
Gus Wilson, Chicot County extension staff chair, has earned the 2011 Extension Education Award from the Arkansas Soybean Association. Wilson has worked on finding salt-tolerant soybean varieties for growers in Chicot, Jackson and Ashley counties.

Education
Kevin Davis, Harding University assistant director of public safety, has been appointed vice chair of the central Arkansas chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security International and was elected president of the Arkansas Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, where he will serve two terms.

Financial Services
Tom Schallhorn, president of the Fayetteville office of Schallhorn Brown Capital Management LLC, is celebrating his 50th year in the investment industry. His career includes management positions with several major Arkansas investment firms. Schallhorn served as a guest columnist for Arkansas Business for several years.  
Scott Jeffus has joined Bank of Arkansas’ Bentonville office as a mortgage loan officer. Jeffus has more then 15 years of banking and marketing experience and comes to Bank of Arkansas from First Bank of Arkansas, where he served as senior vice president.

Steven Brown, Carlotta Parks Aytch, Jackie Kendrick, Keith Shepherd, John Anderson and Mary Ann Shnaekel have been promoted within Pine Bluff National Bank. Brown became the senior vice president, up from vice president; Parks is now the vice president of branch operations after serving as associate vice president; Kendrick is vice president of customer service, promoted from associate vice president; Shepherd went from associate vice president to vice president; Anderson is assistant vice president after serving as commercial loan officer; and Shnaekel is assistant vice president after serving as assistant internal auditor.

Candace Meeks and Joannie Shearer have been named assistant vice presidents of Simmons First National Bank in Pine Bluff. Meeks is the manager of regional sales and quality customer service. Shearer is a branch administrator operations manager and consumer banking officer.

Health Care
Debbie Johnson has been promoted to contracts manager of managed care at Arkansas Children’s Hospital after working in the admissions and insurance areas. Johnson will identify contracting opportunities in managed care, database development and management, and contract management and monitoring.

Tourism & Hospitality
Renee Mote and Mary Sternberg have joined the team at Conway’s Fairfield Inn & Suites as general manager and director of sales. Mote comes to the hotel after six years at the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Little Rock. Sternberg has more than 20 years of hospitality experience in central Arkansas.
