NEA Baptist has announced a new employee scholarship in memory of Jonesboro business leaders and philanthropists Wallace and Jama Fowler.
The scholarship was created through a $100,000 gift from the Fowlers’ son Chris and his wife Kim. Employees seeking to further their education can receive $2,500 for a year with a lifetime cap of $5,000.
“We were truly touched by the support and compassionate care my family received from the entire staff at NEA Baptist,” Chris Fowler said in a news release. “They went above and beyond to treat my mom and dad like family, and Kim and I want to provide this scholarship as a way to give back and honor the legacy of my parents.”
Wallace and Jama built and sold multiple banks and led robust KFC and Taco Bell franchises. He died in May at age 87. She died a few weeks earlier at age 85.
