You know by now that Matt Bell, chef at South on Main in Little Rock’s SoMa area, has taken a job at Gray & Dudley, the restaurant in the 21c Museum Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
What you might not know is that he’s replacing another Arkansas chef, Rob Newton, who has gained national attention recently for his cookbook, “Seeking the South,” appearing on programs like “CBS This Morning.”
Newton, who spent time on the New York restaurant scene and once served as private chef to celebrities like the late actress Mary Tyler Moore, came to Gray & Dudley in June 2018.
Newton, who grew up in Mountain Home, left Gray & Dudley “to pursue a new opportunity that hasn’t yet been officially announced,” according to Nashville Scene.
Could that new opportunity be at One Eleven at the Capital Hotel, the elegant restaurant from which Executive Chef Joel Antunes recently decamped?
As the president likes to say, “We’ll see what happens.”
