Brandon Phipps is launching a new HomeWell Care Services franchise in Conway, with help from investor Jeff Standridge.

Standridge won’t be involved in day-to-day operations, but you may recognize his name because he’s the former vice president of Acxiom Corp. who is now managing director of Innovation Junkie and The Conductor in Conway.

Standridge also teaches at the University of Central Arkansas College of Business. That’s where the two men met; Phipps was his student.

The home health care franchise, which will cater mostly to senior citizens, will hold a soft opening today in Conway, Phipps told Whispers. A grand opening and ribbon-cutting are planned for June 1. Plans include opening a recruiting office in Little Rock in 12-18 months and another in Hot Springs 12-18 months after that.

“We’re really creating a premium company here, trying to get the best caregivers and pay them the best. We’ll also offer them matching IRAs and other benefits along the way,” Phipps said, noting that many caregivers in the area are paid minimum wage and do not receive many, if any, benefits.

The franchise is currently seeking caregivers to employ and will offer education services to them as well. It has four employees so far, including Phipps, working in business development, human resources and care coordination.

The franchise will offer programs aimed at keeping recent hospital patients from being rehospitalized, preventing falls in their homes and addressing mental health issues by encouraging them to participate in life-enriching activities, such as golf.
