New Dean Named at UA Monticello (Movers & Shakers)

Shuneize Slater has been named dean of the School of Mathematical & Natural Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Slater grew up in Dumas, graduated from UAM in 2009 and recently led the organic chemistry division at Rock Valley College of Rockford, Illinois.

Gregory Michna has been appointed director of general education at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Michna has served on the ATU faculty since 2017 as assistant professor of history.

Alex Melton has joined Rainwater Holt & Sexton of Little Rock as an associate attorney working on personal injury cases. Melton received his law degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law.

Nia McConnell has been named director of business development and operations at public affairs firm Think Rubix of Washington, D.C. She was previously the firm’s project manager.

Lisa Byrum has been named program coordinator for Economics Arkansas. Byrum has worked with EA for the past 10 years as a master economics teacher and recently served as a MET representative on its board of directors.

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas has promoted Tammy Wheaton to vice president of mission services, Elizabeth Blaty to director of The Academy and Carloas Wilson to director of The Excel Center. It also hired Joanna Lever as vice president of education, Julie Abernathy as director of compliance and data analytics, Lane Gammel as director of marketing and community outreach, and Teresa Perkins as director of career services.

Ben Johnson has been named president and CEO of the United States Marshals Museum of Fort Smith. Johnson was previously vice president of museum experience at the Putnam Museum & Science Center in Davenport, Iowa.

Elexus Jordan has joined Mid-America Science Museum of Hot Springs as volunteer coordinator, where she will recruit and train volunteers and be the liaison between volunteers and museum staff.
