Nexans AmerCable of El Dorado to Receive National Export Award

1 min read

Nexans AmerCable, a cable manufacturer based in El Dorado and serving the oil and gas, mining and renewable energy industries, is one of 57 recipients of the 2013 President’s “E” Awards for exporting, the Department of Commerce announced Wednesday.

Arkansas will recognize its own top exporters on May 22 at the 2013 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Global Trade.

Nexans AmerCable is the only Arkansas company being recognized with an “E” Award. The 57 winning firms represent 22 states, and are being recognized for their contributions to U.S. exports. The President’s “E” Awards were created by President John F. Kennedy in 1961.

The awards will be presented on Monday, May 20, by acting Commerce Secretary Rebecca Blank in Washington, D.C.

That same week, Gov. Mike Beebe will host a luncheon banquet at the Governor’s Mansion recognizing the state’s top exporters. Nominations are being accepted at Export.gov/Arkansas.

Arkansas businesses posted a record number of exports in 2012 when exports rose 36 percent to $7.6 billion, according to the International Trade Administration.

The state’s leading market remained Canada in 2012, with $1.7 billion in exports. Most state exports fell into the following categories: transportation equipment, chemicals, food and kindred products, machinery manufactures and primary metal manufactures.
