Nick Roach Named President & CEO of Stone Bank

2 min read

Stone Bank, which is moving its headquarters from Mountain View to Little Rock, announced Thursday that Nick Roach has been promoted to president and CEO.

Roach joined the lender in 2010 and had been serving as president and chief lending officer. He succeeds Marnie Oldner as CEO. She retired in December after more than 11 years with the lender.

In a news release, Stone Bank said Roach has played a pivotal role in transforming the institution into a “major player in the government-guaranteed loan sector.” Under his leadership, the bank achieved status as a top 100 SBA lender and top five USDA lender.

Roach holds a bachelor’s in economics and finance from Arkansas Tech University and is a graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

He has served as the president of the National Rural Lenders Roundtable of the USDA in Washington, D.C., for the past two years. He also serves on the board of the Arkansas Capital Corporation.

The leadership change is the first under Stone Bank’s new owners, brothers Randall, Kendall and Michael Combs of Missouri. The cash sale closed in April at an estimated $88 million.

“We are delighted to announce Nick Roach as our new CEO,” Kendall Combs, the bank’s board chair, said in a statement. “His track record of accomplishments and leadership within Stone Bank has been remarkable, and we look forward to the continued success of the bank under his guidance.”

Last summer, Stone Bank announced it purchased Bank OZK’s former headquarters in west Little Rock for $9.5 million. After renovations are completed later this year, the building will house about 115 Stone Bank employees.

Stone Bank ranked No. 25 on Arkansas Business’ 2023 list of the state’s largest banks, with $677.6 million in assets. As of Sept. 30, the bank’s assets had grown to $738.8 million, according to FDIC records.

The bank has locations in Little Rock, White Hall, Harrison, Mountain View, DeWitt and Gillett.
