North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville
Filings in Pulaski County Circuit Court suggest the financial situation hasn’t improved at North Metro Medical Center in Jacksonville.
In July, the Department of Workforce Services filed a lien alleging that the hospital owes the state agency $142,900.
And that’s not all.
A Quality Staffing, which operates as Elite Medical Staffing of Clearwater, Florida, alleged in a lawsuit that North Metro owes it $229,000 for services provided. It is suing to collect that amount plus another $20,360 for interest as of July 6.
Elite says it supplied workers to the hospital between September 2016 and March but hasn’t been paid.
McClure & Associates LLC of North Little Rock, which does business as Home Instead Senior Care, filed a lawsuit in May over $36,450 worth of services provided in 2016 that North Metro had not paid for.
An attorney for North Metro, R. David Freeze of Texarkana, Texas, has denied the allegations in both lawsuits but wasn’t available for comment on Thursday. Nor was Bobby Jordan, who arrived at North Metro as CEO in April.
Steve Anderson, the regional CFO who also started work at the hospital in April, told Whispers that “there’s a new executive team at North Metro that is improving all financial operations with the organization.” He declined to comment further.
Between January 2015 and June 30, 2016, North Metro Medical Center was hit with $4 million worth of tax liens from the IRS.
The hospital’s owner, Allegiance Health Management Inc. of Shreveport, also operates Eureka Springs Hospital and River Valley Medical Center in Danville. North Metro was Allegiance’s worst-performing Arkansas hospital during fiscal 2013-15. It reported a two-year loss of $11.7 million on net patient revenue of $66.2 million.
