KFTA-TV, Channel 27, of Fort Smith has hired a new anchor.
The station recently announced that Jo Ann Bauer would be joining the staff as lead anchor and executive producer and would appear on the 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. news. Bauer has previously worked in Baltimore, Minneapolis and Orlando, Florida, the station said in a news release.
“Jo Ann is a great fit for our station. Her positive attitude, tenacity and heart for service naturally reflects our core values at Fox24,” KNWA/KFTA General Manager Lisa Kelsey said in a statement. “She has already created an immediate positive impact in our newsroom and I believe she will do the same in our community.”
Bauer’s first newscast aired last week.
At another northwest Arkansas newsroom, Kelly Johnson and Paige Preusse were named weeknight news anchors at KHBS-TV and KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29 of Fort Smith and Fayetteville, last week.
The station said in a news release that Johnson will co-anchor newscasts at 5 p.m. with Daniel Armbruster and at 6 p.m. with Craig Cannon. Preusse will co-anchor newscasts at 9 p.m. with Armbruster and 10 p.m. with Cannon.
“Kelly and Paige’s anchoring and field reporting experience are a perfect fit for our team,” News Director Greg Shepperd said in the news release. “Their versatility will enhance 40/29 News’ commitment to thoroughly cover the entire market.”
