The Northwest Arkansas Technology Summit was Oct. 28-29, and with it came whispers of technology happenings around the state.

We can expect more acquisitions from retail software company Nuqleous of Bentonville. Paul Sims, the company’s co-founder and head of analytics innovation, said the company has shifted its strategy to “partner with other companies.”

In June, Nuqleous acquired both TR3 Solutions of Stoneham, Massachusetts, and Shiloh Technologies of Rogers. It also acquired SpringBoard Data Management of Ontario, Canada, earlier this month.

Cyrus Sigari, co-founder and managing partner of UP.Partners, the venture capital firm out of Santa Monica, California, that partnered with J.B. Hunt to form an innovation lab, said there will be big news for Arkansas next year.

Sigari is also chairman of the state’s Council on Future Mobility.

When answering an audience question about emerging technologies that have caught his eye, Sigari said: “There will be a large piece of news regarding fusion in Arkansas within the year,” though he said he could not share details.

And we should see more innovation out of ArcBest of Fort Smith. Dennis Anderson, chief strategy and innovation officer at the company, said to “stay tuned” on what the company releases going forward.

The company employs about 600 in technology innovation, and Anderson said supply chain technology is “where value is being created these days, so it’s important that we have the capability to be able to drive not only our company forward, but also supply chains in general.”

He also said ArcBest has done a lot of investment over the last year in artificial intelligence and infrastructure, releasing “incremental changes.”
