The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission on Monday announced $16.6 million in awards for 21 regional transportation projects through three federal programs.
The competitive grants support local and regional infrastructure improvements that enhance mobility, promote safety, encourage alternative transportation and reduce transportation emissions across the region. Projects selected aim to improve roadways, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and transportation safety throughout northwest Arkansas.
The funds come from the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program-Attributable, the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP).
The programs require a 20% match by the grant recipient.
