Peco Foods Gives $80K to ASU College of Agriculture

1 min read

Poultry producer Peco Foods Inc. of Tuscaloosa, Alabama has donated $80,000 to the Arkansas State University College of Agriculture, the school in Jonesboro announced.

The funds will be used to remodel a barn and transform the existing structure into a modern broiler house with fans, cooling pads, and heating units to optimize bird health and growth. The existing barn is a wide-open structure with a tin roof and no technology.

“A new broiler complex aligns well with our new strategic plan and offers a high degree of experiential learning for students,” Mickey Latour, dean of the college, said in a news release.

Work on the project began this month. It’s expected to be completed in two to three months.
