Physician Recruiting Firm MedExcellence Moves HQ to Springdale

1 min read

Physician recruiting firm MedExcellence announced it has moved its headquarters from Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Springdale, where the region’s rapidly-growing population has increased demand for health services.

The office will be led by Diana McDaniel, the company’s new managing partner. McDaniel is a former vice president of operations for Springdale-based Arkansas Children’s Northwest.

In a news release, MedExcellence said McDaniel spearheaded the move to Springdale. Her goal is to help address the physician shortage not only in northwest Arkansas, but across the state. Arkansas has only 224 doctors per 100,000 people, 72 fewer than the national average, according to the Association of American Medical Colleges.

A lack of specialty care providers also poses a significant economic challenge, costing northwest Arkansas nearly $1 billion annually as patients seek care out-of-state.

“Access to care,” McDaniel said in the release, “can only be improved through strategic efforts to bring more physicians to the area.”

She continued: “While expanding graduate medical education will grow the physician pipeline in the long term, the region urgently needs an influx of physicians to meet current demands.”

McDaniel holds a bachelor’s in international relations from the University of Arkansas and a Master’s in public administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

She’s a member of the Arkansas Business 40 Under 40 class of 2019.
