Root Publishing Inc. of Little Rock said Friday that it has purchased At Home in Arkansas magazine from Network Communications Inc. of Norcross, Georgia.
Root Publishing is a new company owned by Kelly and David Fraiser. Kelly Fraiser is publisher of the magazine.
Root Publishing closed on the sale on Aug. 8 for an undisclosed amount. At Home’s September issue will be the first under the new ownership.
Kelly Fraiser said no real precipitating event led to the purchase, but that the magazine is growing and has reached a new level of success and visibility.
“We have a stronger team and stronger presence in the market,” she said. “We obtained self-sufficiency and no longer require the support of a large corporate infrastructure.”
At Home in Arkansas is more streamlined and efficient as a local publication, Kelly said.
Kelly will continue as publisher and the magazine’s editor in chief, Chip Jones, will continue to oversee the editorial staff. Laura LaRue will return to the magazine full-time as the senior graphic designer and Debbie Tissue will serve as office coordinator.
“The same talented staff will be responsible for our day-to-day operations, and we look forward to continuing to bring our readers the best content and our advertisers the best value and placement,” Kelly said.
The group will also continue to produce its biannual publication, Weddings in Arkansas, which was included in their purchase of At Home in Arkansas.
The new owners said At Home in Arkansas is published 11 times a year. Kelly has been an employee of At Home in Arkansas since it was started by Rebekah Hardin in 1996.
“My roots are in Little Rock and I have a personal passion to continue to inspire Arkansans,” she said. “As owner I can do that with more freedom and using local resources.”
In November 2005, Network Communications purchased At Home from New At Home Media Group, led by Chairman and CEO Russ McDonough.
Network Communications publishes other home design and lifestyle magazine, including New England Home, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and Mountain Living, and provides lead generation, advertising, and Internet marketing services to businesses.
