Pulaski Academy has hired a new headmaster.
Matthew Walsh, the headmaster of LaGrange Academy in LaGrange, Ga., will assume his duties as head of school and chief executive officer for PA on June 30.
Joe Hatcher, a former Hendrix College president and PA board member, has been interim headmaster since May when William Mott resigned. The school launched a nationwide search for a replacement in July.
PA is an independent private school in west Little Rock with an enrollment of roughly 1,300 in preschool through 12th grade.
"We are really excited to have the Walshes join our PA family," PA board chair Kim Parr said in a news release. "Matt brings a wealth of experience, as well as the strong values that Pulaski Academy believes in. We confidently look forward to great years ahead under his leadership."
Walsh is a Connecticut native and an honors graduate of Georgetown University. He has served as the headmaster at LaGrange since 2006, and his 21-year career as an educator with private schools includes tenures at Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, R.I., the Bolles School in Jacksonville, Fla., and Visitation Academy, an all-girls school in St. Louis.
"I am very honored by this appointment," Walsh said in the release. "Pulaski Academy has established a reputation for excellence in all areas of school life. I am looking forward to building on this great foundation by collaborating closely with a talented and dedicated group of trustees, administrators, faculty, parents, students and alumni."
