The Arkansas Realtors Association said Thursday that April home sales in Arkansas fell 10 percent from the same month last year, while average prices rose 8 percent.
The average price of the homes sold in the 43-county area the association surveys increased from $138,642 in April 2011 to $150,153 in April 2012.
“It is interesting to see that although the number of units sold for April fell in Pulaski, Washington and Benton counties, the price per unit increased-a whopping 26.6 percent in Washington and 11.5 percent in Benton County,” Amy Glover Bryant, director of communications, said in a news release.

Bryant said it’s possible that some excess inventory has sold, that there are fewer foreclosures or that the higher priced homes are selling better. Bryant also said real estate agents have reported getting multiple offers on the same listing.
For the year Arkansas home sales are up almost 2 percent with the average price of those homes sold up almost 5 percent, the report said.
Among the top counties for home sales, Washington County saw the biggest decline from April 2011, down 25 percent. Benton County sales were down 10 percent. Saline County was down 4 percent. Pulaski County home sales dropped by 2 percent.
