The Rep In Line for $1M in Matching Grants

1 min read

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s board of directors announced Friday that it has received two matching grants potentially worth $1.02 million to fund its “Our Next Act” campaign.

This news comes a week after The Rep suspended operations and said it would not complete the final production of its current season.

The Windgate Charitable Foundation gave The Rep $75,000 up front for operating needs, but The Rep will have to raise $925,000 in order to receive an additional $925,000. Money will be released as money is raised, Board Chairman Brian Bush told Arkansas Business.

The Rep will also have to raise $25,000 to receive $25,000 for general support from the John & Robyn Horn Foundation.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled about these challenge grants. They make it possible for those who love The Rep to double their gift,” Ruth Shepherd, board chair-elect, said in a news release. “With these gifts, the Windgate and John & Robyn Horn Foundations have said loud and clear, ‘We believe in the future of a re-designed Rep.’ So now we need everyone to help us earn that match.”

Bush said the grants give The Rep’s fundraising campaign “the start that we’ve needed.”
