A Missouri business newspaper is reporting that a Springfield developer is moving ahead with plans to build a multimillion-dollar fly fishing resort along the White River in Cotter (Baxter County).
The Springfield Business Journal reported Tuesday that SL Stinnett Co., led by Steve Stinnett, has an agreement with O’Reilly Hospitality Management to manage the resort, called Seasons on the White Lodge.
The development would include 30 suites, a restaurant, seven private riverfront cabins, a pool, a boat dock, a professional fly shop, fly fishing classes and a team of professional guides. It would sit on a 5-acre tract of land that that SL Stinnett has contract to buy.
Construction is schduled to begin in May, with an expected completion date in January 2013, the Journal reports.
Stinnett, a fly fisherman, puts an initial price tag of $3.9 million on the project, but says that figure doesn’t include costs of building cabins, which would be offered for purchase.
The Journal said Americom Construction Co. of nearby Mountain Home has signed on as the general contractor.
Cotter is about 36 miles away from the area’s biggest fly fishing resort, Gaston’s White River Resort, which is a worldwide destination for trout fishing. Gaston’s covers more than 400 acres, with a dock facility supporting 70 fishing boats, 79 cottages, a 125-seat conference center and its own restaurant, a private club, a 3,200-feet airstrip and a seasonal staff of 75 to 100 people.
