Rockline Industries Inc. said Wednesday that it will locate a new wet wipe manufacturing and distribution facility in Booneville, spending $5 million and creating more than 200 jobs over the next five years.
Warehousing is scheduled to begin before the end of the year with production beginning in March 2008, the company said.
Rockline makes private label coffee filters and wet wipes with more than 1,800 employees at six facilities worldwide, including more than 500 in Springdale.
The Booneville facility in Logan County will be the first site in the company’s North American expansion program, which will add three new wet wipe manufacturing and distribution facilities.
Nick Santoleri, Rockline’s vice president of manufacturing, said Arkansas edged out two other states to win the first expansion. He did not name those states.
"Booneville was chosen because of its business friendly environment, good freight routes and ability to reduce handling costs by locating manufacturing and distribution under the same roof," Santoleri said in a news release. "In addition, Booneville’s proximity to the Springdale facility will allow the company to easily train employees before production begins."
Arkansas is the largest wet wipe producing state in the U.S. The company said that upon completion, the Booneville facility will be the largest wet wipe facility in the world.
