Rodney Abston & Wesley Bland Honored as Distinguished UALR Alumni (Movers & Shakers)

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Business has recognized two business leaders as recipients of the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award. Rodney Abston, senior vice president and market executive for Regions Bank, has been named the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Wesley Bland, a manager of data engineering for Priority-1, will receive the Dean’s Award for Excellence.


Kevin Crass
Kevin Crass (Summit Utilities)

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law has recognized three alumni: Kevin A. Crass, a partner at Friday Eldredge & Clark LLP, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus award. Amy Dunn Johnson, a family judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit Court, will receive the Outstanding Alumna in Public Service award. Cody McKinney, a lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard serving as a staff attorney with the Coast Guard Office of the Judge Advocate General, will receive the Emerging Young Alumni Award.

Lakisha Bradley (Kat Wilson)

Lakisha Bradley has been selected as a recipient of the Creative Impact Award from Artists 360, a program of Mid-America Arts Alliance. The award recognizes an artist who has contributed to and nurtured the region’s cultural ecosystem.


Brandy Dixon
Brandy Dixon (UALR)

Brandy Sweeden Dixon has been hired as assistant athletic director of communications at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She will be the primary contact for men’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.


Russ Hannah
Russ Hannah (ASU)

Russ Hannah has started a one-year term as chair of the board of directors of the National Association of College and University Business Officers. Hannah is the chief financial officer at Arkansas State University.


Rachel Hobbs
Rachel Hobbs (BRTC)

Rachel Hobbs has been hired as administrative specialist for corporate education at Black River Technical College of Pocahontas, where she has worked for seven years.


Laterika Tooks
Laterika Tooks (UALR)

Laterika Tooks has been elected as president-elect of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Staff Senate. She is the university’s director of annual giving.
