Riceland, Producers Rice Join to Take Stake in Sage V Foods in Little Rock

Sage V Foods of Boulder, Colorado, has sold its interest in an instant rice production facility in Little Rock to Best Rice LLC, which is jointly owned by Riceland Foods and Producers Rice Mill, both of Stuttgart.

Riceland and Producers are farmer-owned marketing cooperatives with rice drying, storage and milling facilities. The purchase marks the companies’ first joint venture.

Sage V Foods completed the facility, located in the Port of Little Rock, in 2009 and will continue to operate it. Sage V Foods produces rice-based ingredients for use in processed foods and the company’s frozen rice is sold in the food service and retail markets, according to their website.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

In a news release, Riceland and Producers said “plans are underway to increase the plant’s capacity to accommodate current customers and anticipated demand.”

Sage V Foods also has facilities in Stuttgart and in Freeport, Texas.
