Mary Gay Shipley, owner of That Bookstore in Blytheville, announced Wednesday that she is officially transferring ownership of the store to Grant Hill of Mountain Home.
According to a news release from Shipley, Hill will become owner of the shop in January. A send-off party for Shipley will be held on Feb. 16.
The shop has been for sale since February.
Hill, 22, will move from Mountain Home to take over the store. As first reported in Arkansas Business’ Whispers column on Monday, Hill is working with Southern Bancorp and the Greater Blytheville Chamber of Commerce to obtain the $35,000 Shipley was asking for the shop.
The shop opened in 1976 as a paperback exchange. Shipley has been on the board of directors of the American Booksellers Association and the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression.
