Salmon Cos. of North Little Rock, the mail hauler long known as Pat Salmon & Sons, was the fourth-largest contractor for the U.S. Postal Service in fiscal 2013, according to an annual ranking by the Husch Blackwell law firm.
Salmon did $217.9 million in work for the USPS in the federal fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, according to the report, which was based on data released by the Postal Service.
That was a decrease from 2012, when the same report found that Salmon did $228 million in USPS hauling. In 2011, the figure was $136.5 million, but that was before Pat Salmon & Sons’ 2012 acquisition of Mail Contractors of America Inc. of Little Rock. Mail Contractors alone had USPS revenue of $116.7 million in fiscal 2011.
Salmon Cos. Ranked No. 39 on Arkansas Business’ most recent list of the state’s largest private companies.
The top three spots on Husch Blackwell’s ranking of USPS contractors for 2013 are occupied by FedEx Corp. of Memphis, EnergyUnited Electric Membership Corp. of Statesville, N.C., and Kalitta Air LLC of Ypsilanti, Mich.
