Dr. Sara Tariq has been named to the new position of associate dean for student affairs in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.
Tariq, a professor of internal medicine, joined the faculty in 2002 and has served as assistant dean for undergraduate clinical education since 2009.
Kiril Kolev has been named director of the Hendrix Odyssey Program, Hendrix College’s engaged learning initiative.
Kolev, an associate professor who currently chairs the Department of Politics & International Relations, joined the faculty of Hendrix in Conway in 2011.
Bobby Brasel will serve as an assistant coach on the Trojan women’s basketball staff in his second stint with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Brasel spent the last four seasons as the associate head coach at North Texas State University. He spent two years at UA Little Rock in 2013-15.
Austin Hopper has joined the University of Central Arkansas as director of development for athletics.
A native of Monticello and a 2017 graduate of Arkansas State University, Hopper previously worked for the Louisville Cardinals development team as a graduate assistant.
Lana K. Bell, Pamela Davidson, Daniel Settle, Jerry West and James Brandli were recently honored for service to the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith on Faculty Appreciation Day.
Bell received the Luella M. Krehbiel Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award.
Davidson received the Excellence to the University, to the Profession & to the Community Service Award.
Settle is the recipient of the Excellence in Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Award.
West received the Lucille Speakman Master Teacher Award.
Brandli received the Lori Norin Faculty Appreciation Award presented by the Student Government Association.
Jenene Alexander, Chuck Hicks, Jonathan Singleton, Mary Madill, Frank McCown, Jonathan White, Peter Rice, John Stone and Debbie Waggoner recently received Teacher Achievement Awards from Harding University in Searcy.
Alexander is director of the counseling program and professor of professional counseling in the Cannon-Clary College of Education.
Hicks is an assistant professor of music and Singleton is associate professor of English, both in the College of Arts & Humanities.
Madill is academic director and assistant professor of physician assistant studies in the College of Allied Health.
McCown is associate professor of computer science and White is associate professor of engineering and physics, both in the College of Sciences.
Rice is assistant professor of Bible in the College of Bible & Ministry.
Stone is assistant professor in the College of Business Administration.
Waggoner is associate professor of pharmacy practice in the College of Pharmacy.
Kevin Davis, J. Lemmons, Nathan Looney, Ashley Lynn, John Noah, Carl Walker and Sharon Williams are Harding staff members who received Distinguished Service Awards.
Davis is assistant director of public safety.
Lemmons is a functional technician for the Office of Advancement.
Looney is assistant sports information director. Lynn is the administrative assistant in the College of Business Administration.
Noah is director of the business office.
Walker is a technical training specialist for information systems and technology.
Williams is an administrative assistant to the president.
Harding presented an Above & Beyond service award to Billy Davis, custodial supervisor for Aramark, the university’s food service contractor.
