Sarah Clark Rises at Mitchell Communications Group

1 min read

As Elise Mitchell takes her PR expertise global, former Wal-Mart executive Sarah Clark is taking over as CEO of Mitchell Communications Group in Fayetteville. Mitchell, who started the firm in 1995 and sold it in a multimillion-dollar deal to Tokyo-based Dentsu in 2013, will remain as the agency’s chairman and keep her post of CEO for the Dentsu Aegis Public Relations Network. The new roles will take effect Jan. 1.

Clark, who joined Mitchell in 2010 and became president at the time of the sale, was praised for her “client perspective” and “great strategic mind.” But most of all, Mitchell said, “she’s a culture champion for the agency,” which has experienced double-digit growth over the past five years, according to a company news release.

Elise Mitchell recently returned from Helsinki, where she presided over the global summit of the International Communications Consultancy Organization, the umbrella group for dozens of national PR trade associations around the world. (More on that in a future Outtakes.) Her memoir/business advice book, “Leading Through the Turn,” was published in January by McGraw-Hill.
