Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that she has appointed Jerry Halsey, CEO and President of Halsey Thrasher Harpole Real Estate Group of Jonesboro, to the Arkansas State Highway Commission.
His term expires Jan. 14, 2035. He is replacing Alec Farmer.
Halsey, a graduate of Arkansas State University, is Northeast Arkansas Board of Realtors Hall of Fame inductee. He currently serves as vice chair of the Arkansas Real Estate Commission and as a member of the board of directors for the Arkansas State Police Foundation.
“Jerry is an incredibly gifted businessman, a leader in Jonesboro, and most importantly, a great friend,” Sanders said in a statement. :I know his experience in community development in Northeast Arkansas will lend itself to his new role on the Highway Commission and I look forward to working with him to keep Arkansas the center of America’s road, river, and rail systems.”
Halsey previously served as a commissioner for the Arkansas Building Authority; chairman of the Jonesboro Metropolitan Area Planning Commission; member of the Jonesboro Vision 2030 comprehensive planning advisory commission; president of the Arkansas chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors; and president of the board of directors for City Youth Ministries.
“I thank Governor Sanders for this opportunity to serve, and for her trust and confidence in me,” Halsey said. “I am excited and ready to go to work.”
