Seal Solar of North Little Rock is completing one of the largest farm solar generation projects in the state south of Siloam Springs, the company announced.
The photovoltaic array will generate power for Dixie Acres Farm, south of Siloam Springs. Dan Schweider, the farm’s owner, expects to save $24,000 a year on energy costs and to recoup his investment in the project within three years, he said in a news release.
“Fundamentally it’s a business decision,” said Schweider, who also works in farm real estate brokerage and thus is familiar with large-scale agricultural projects. “I don’t know if I’ve been through very many projects of this magnitude with this much simplicity. Now that speaks volumes to me.”
Nate Bell, a former Arkansas lawmaker who now works as a commercial solar consultant for Seal, said he loved to see Arkansas families choose energy independence. “One of my favorite things about assisting poultry growers with switching to solar power is that it turns electricity expenses from an unknown to a known cost for the next three decades or more,” he said in a statement. “It also provides immediate improvement in cash flow. With grants and other incentives that can cover nearly 90% of the project, it’s an easy decision for contract growers to choose solar energy.”
Seal Solar specializes in solar, battery storage, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the company said.
